IMPORTANT WARNING: Scam / Phishing / SMiShing ! Note that ill-intentioned people may be trying to contact some of participants by email or phone to get money and personal details, by pretending to be part of the staff of our conference center (CIRM). CIRM and the organizers will NEVER contact you by phone on this issue and will NEVER ask you to pay for accommodation/ board / possible registration fee in advance. Any due payment will be taken onsite at CIRM during your stay.
Our international conference will bring together researchers from three related areas within geometry: renormalized volume, homogeneous dynamics, and discrete subgroups of Lie groups. It will also be a time of fruitful interactions between various communities in Europe, Americas and Asia.
Renormalized volume was introduced by the physicists Graham and Witten and has recently developed connections with the deformation theory of hyperbolic 3-manifolds and the theory of random curves in the sphere. Homogeneous dynamics classically focuses on lattices in Lie groups, as epitomized by the work of Margulis. More recently, dynamicists have expanded to study more general discrete subgroups of Lie groups. These recent directions in renormalized volume and homogeneous dynamics have brought fruitful interactions with researchers studying discrete subgroups of Lie groups from geometric and topological perspectives.
