The goal of this research school is to introduce undergraduate students to the world of research in mathematics. In order to do so, the school is split into two parts. In the first one, there will be several courses which will focus on different aspects of mathematics that are not taught at undergraduate level (number theory, dynamical systems, applied analysis, etc) as well as an introduction to Python. In the second part of the school, small groups of students will focus on a resaerch problem suggested by a researcher. At the end of teh week, a poster session will present the problems and solutions.
This school is a joint program between the I2M Institute of Mathematics of Marseille (AMU) and the Mathematic Department of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. |
Le monde de la recherche est assez mystérieux pour les étudiants de premier cycle. Le but de cette école est de faire découvrir à une vingtaine d’étudiants de licence la recherche actuelle en mathématiques. Pour ce faire l’école sera découpée en deux parties. Dans une première partie qui durera deux semaines, des cours de niveau L3 seront donnés aux étudiants sur des thèmes divers des mathématiques: (modélisation, théorie des nombres, systèmes dynamiques, etc) et sur une initiation à la programmation en Python. Ensuite les étudiants, en petits groupes, travailleront sur des problèmes de recherche proposés par des enseignants chercheurs. A la fin de cette période une session posters présentera leurs résultats.
