- Group Operator Algebras, that is, C∗-algebras and von Neumann algebras arising from analytic, ergodic and geometric group theory. This topic has connections with discrete subgroups of semisimple Lie groups, totally disconnected groups, topological dynamics, ergodic theory and noncommutative harmonic analysis to name a few.
- Noncommutative Geometry, that is, C∗-algebras arising from groupoids. With main focus being applications to analytic and geometric questions around pseudodifferential operators and foliations
On the other hand, we want to promote the field of Operator Algebras in France and beyond towards PhD students and Postdocs. In that respect, the conference will feature two mini-courses (4h) on each theme. These mini-courses will be geared towards PhD students and Postdocs. The conference will also feature around 10-12 plenary talks by established researchers and short talks by PhD students and Postdocs.
This conference will also be the annual event of the GDR Géométrie non commutative.
Le but de cette conférence est double. D’une part, nous voulons rassembler les mathématiciens travaillant sur :
- les algèbres d’opérateurs de groupes, c’est à dire, les C*-algèbres et les algèbres de Von Neumann provenant de la théorie analytique, ergodique ou géométrique des groupes. Ce thème est relié à l’ étude des sous-groupes des groupes de Lie semi-simples, des groupes totalement discontinus, de la théorie ergodique et de l’analyse harmonique non commutative.
- la géométrie non commutative, c’est à dire les C*-algèbres issues des groupoides avec comme application principale les questions tant analytiques que géométriques autour des opérateurs pseudo-différentiels et des feuilletage.
D’autre part, nous souhaitons promouvoir le domaine des algèbres d’opérateurs tant en France qu’à l’étranger, auprès des doctorants et des post-doctorants. A cet effet, deux mini-cours sur chacun des thèmes seront proposés. Ils seront conçus pour être suivis par des étudiants et des post-doctorants. La conférence comportera aussi une dizaine d’exposés de recherche et les doctorants auront la possibilité de faire état de leurs résultats.
Cette conférence tiendra lieu de rencontre annuelle du GDR de Géométrie non commutative.
