The aim of the workshop is to produce a review of recent advances in the mathematical study of waves associated with the Earth’s rotation, density stratification and free surfaces. These waves, characterised by strong anisotropy, play a key role in energy exchange. This workshop will bring together four mathematicians and one physicist, all of whom are relatively senior, to identify the key topics to be addressed in the seminar and conference that will follow.
L’atelier a pour objectif de préparer une synthèse sur les avancées récentes dans l’étude mathématique des ondes liées à la rotation de la Terre, à la stratification en densité et à la surface libre. Ces ondes, caractérisées par une forte anisotropie, jouent un rôle essentiel dans les échanges d’énergie. Cet atelier réunira quatre mathématiciens et un physicien relativement senior, pour identifier les sujets importants à aborder dans le séminaire et le colloque qui suivront.
