LinBox is an ecosystem of three open-source software for exact linear algebra [1,2,3]. Internationally known as a reference software in the field, its development relies on a community of about 50 researchers and engineers in computer algebra, with about 12 active developers, from France (Grenoble, Montpellier, Limoges, Lyon) USA (U. of Delaware, NC State University) and Canada (U. of Waterloo). Software development workshops are organized yearly to foster interactions, enable collaborative design of new functionalities, and enable coding-sprints to prepare new releases of the software. Beyond the software development work, these meetings enable to federate the community and these interactions regularly result in new scientific publications and grant proposals. For this 2020 edition, the presentation by Alin Bostan (Inria Saclay), scheduled at the weekly seminar of the CAS3C3 group (LJK Grenoble) will held online and broadcast to all interested participants on Thursday Dec. 3rd afternoon.

LinBox est un écosystème de trois logiciels libres d’algèbre linéaire exacte [1,2,3]. Reconnu internationalement comme une référence dans le domaine, son développement repose sur une communauté d’une cinquantaine de chercheurs et ingénieurs le domaine du calcul formel, dont une douzaine de
développeurs actifs, situés en France (Grenoble, Montpellier, Limoges et Lyon), États-Unis (U. of Delaware, NC State University) et au Canada (U. of Waterloo). Des ateliers de développement sont organisés chaque année pour stimuler les interactions, faciliter la co-conception de nouvelles fonctionnalités, et organiser des coding-sprints en vue de la sortie de nouvelles versions des logiciels. Au delà du travail de développement logiciel, ces rencontres permettent de fédérer la communauté et les interactions débouchent régulièrement sur des publications scientifiques et/ou l’organisation de réponse à des appels à financement. Pour cette édition, l’exposé d’Alin Bostan (Inria Saclay), prévu au séminaire de l’équipe CAS3C3 du LJK (Grenoble), présente au workshop, sera diffusé en visio-conférence à tous les participants.
