The proposed research project, which lies in the field of geometric analysis and theory of foliations, involves analytic and geometric techniques and is partially motivated by questions arising from spectral geometry. Amongst the main thrust of the project is the comparison between eigenvalues of the Laplacian of a manifold and other operators appearing in simpler geometric situations. Therefore a deep knowledge of both theoriesis needed in order to understand the geometric aspect of the project and to branch out the analytic questions. The idea of the project comes from the impetus given by the remarkable development of both fields in the last few years. These advances are visible through several publications appeared in the subject.
The stay we are planning to do would provide an important opportunity to facilitate the scientific commu nications and to achieve the goal of the work in order to concretize it later by a publication in an international journal. Therefore, we strongly believe that this stay will contribute to the progress of the project. |
Le projet de recherche proposé se manifeste autour de la géométrie analytique et la théorie des feuilletages. Il est partiellement motivé par des questions issues de la géométrie spectrale et utilise essentiellement des techniques analytiques. Parmi les questions traitant dans ce projet sont celles qui comparent les valeurs propres du laplacian basique défini sur une variété feuilletée aux d’autres quantités géométriques définies dans des situations plus simples. D’où une étude approfondie est demandée pour comprendre l’aspect géométrique du projet et ramifier les questions analytiques.
Le séjour proposé fournit donc une opportunité majeure pour la communication scientifique et est donc indispensable pour la réalisation et le progrès d’un tel projet. |
