Description
The focus of this workshop will be on Random Interlacements. This model was originally introduced by Alain-Sol Sznitman as a way to describe the local trace left by a random walk on a torus, in dimensions 3 and higher at a mesoscopic scale. Even though random interlacements were introduced as a tool to study random walks, they have a rich mathematical structure which motivated many questions and intensive research around this topic. In particular deep links with other fields and problems were later found. Examples include links with the Gaussian free field, recent algorithms for generating uniform spanning forests on infinite networks, and large deviations events for simple random walk. The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on this topic to share ideas and techniques. The workshop will be structured around two mini-courses and several talks given by experts in the field.
