Mathematical Documentation 2017: Open Access Dream and Reality

With the development of open access, and more generally of open science (open data, data mining), scientific publishing is undergoing significant and rapid economic evolutions (author-‐pays model and journals with APCs *) as well as regulatory changes (bill for a digital republic in France, open archive deposit by some funders). However, these developments are not yet well known and understood by the mathematical community, and places and occasions where they can be discussed are rare and often involve the same people.
This event will last 3.5 days and will be organized by the RNBM (CNRS French national network of mathematics libraries). It will focus on the above observations. It will offer a place and time for information, discussion, training and exchanges between mathematicians, librarians and computer scientists. Meeting and exchanging in that way is crucial, especially since the mathematical community is one of the lucky few to have such a network (the RNBM) allowing the construction of collective response to these developments. The workshop will revolve around three main sections:
* APCs (Article Processing Charges) are publishing costs requested by publishers and charged to authors (usually) or their affiliated institutions for the publication of their articles in open access journals (pure or hybrid). |
