CONFERENCE
Real Singularities and Applications
February 16 -20, 2015
The study  of real singularities  presents  many  difficult open questions and is nowadays  an active  field of research.  It includes the following main topics: semi-algebraic geometry, 0-minimal structures and model theory, singularities  in differential  geometry,  caustics  and wavefronts.

Besides these theoretical aspects,  the theory  of real singularities  has many applications in other fields such as optimization and control theory, robotics, image reconstruction, vision theory etc.

This workshop will bring together the world’s best specialists  in real singularities and their applications who will present the latest  progress and developments in all these subjects.

The conference will focus on the following topics:

1. Semi-algebraic geometry in a broad sense: blow-analytic  equivalence, topological and motivic invariants of semi-algebraic  sets, 0-minimal  geometry  and model theory,  stratifications.
2.  Optimization and control  theory.
3. Singularities in differential  geometry,  singularities  of caustics  and wavefronts.
