A*Midex School and Workshop on Group Representations in Dynamical Systems and Geometry
June 29 – July 3, 2015
|
The scope of our conference is to build on the knowledge of the deep relations existing between Representation Theory, Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems and to expand in related areas of research that came recently to prominence in the worldwide mathematical scenery.

In particular, we intend to support the creation of a wide “European” net of researchers, including also people from Russia and Israel, encouraging early career mathematicians and promoting the research in this area, including border topics. In this workshop, we are going to bring together, for the first time, experts in representation theory from different mathematical schools which developed their own directions at the highest levels. • Representation theory of the infinite symmetric group: asymptotic formulas and connections with probability. • Finite dimentional representations of finitely generated groups, including combinatorial theory of association schemes and coding theory. • Growth functions: how these are related to averaging operators, convergence theorems and representation theory: some new growth functions will also be presented. • Representation theory in low dimensional geometry and topology. Mornings will be dedicated to mini-courses taught by experts known also for their ability to give enlightening talks approachable to young people. Afternoons will be dedicated to research talks. The speakers will be asked to aim their talks at a knowledgeable but not necessarily specialized audience. For more information, please see our dedicated conference website. |
